Privacy Policy

Wordscend is a daily word game made by a small independent developer. The short version: no account is required, we don't collect your name, email address, or contacts, and we only collect what's needed to run the game. This page explains what our servers handle and where third parties are involved.

Who we are

Wordscend is made and operated by Ken Nguyen, an independent developer based in Vietnam, who is the data controller for the data described on this page. Contact details are at the bottom.

Our servers

Wordscend talks to our servers for three things:

Your settings and preferences stay on your device.

How long we keep data

Server-side game data is kept for as long as it's needed to run the game (so streaks and history survive reinstalls). To have it deleted, email us at the address below — we'll delete it within 30 days. Because the ID is an anonymous device ID, include it from Settings → About so we can find your data.

Ads (free version)

The free version shows at most one ad per day, served by Google AdMob. Whether the ad can be personalized depends on your platform and region:

Google processes this data under its own policy — see how Google uses information from ads. Buying Wordscend+ removes ads entirely, and the ad SDK stops requesting them.

Purchases

Wordscend+ (a one-time purchase) and tips are processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play — we never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases; it receives an anonymous, randomly generated ID and receipt data, not your identity. See the RevenueCat privacy policy.

Notifications

The optional daily reminder is a local notification, scheduled entirely on your device. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your data, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data-protection authority. Because we don't collect your identity, most of these reduce to one action: email us and we'll delete or export the data tied to your device ID. We do not sell your personal information. The only "sharing" for advertising purposes is the ad identifier sent to Google when you've allowed personalized ads — you can opt out at any time via the controls in the Ads section above, and we honor that as a "Do Not Sell or Share" request.

Children

Wordscend is a general-audience word game and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated date above.
